Good luck to them, but I just don’t see it happening. I can understand setting some lofty goals, but trying to take on futbol (or rugby league, union, Gaelic and Australian football) would need a hell of a lot of investment. Even if flag football is the gateway, touch football already occupies a lot of that niche. But, you never know. If all they do is bring the odd game overseas and people start buying Washington Nationals Baseball Fan Tumbler to show their new fandom, well all it takes is one hometown hero and you’ve got an audience.

Chinese tourists are annoying, yes, and i am embarrassed by them, not only me, but the majority of the younger generation, yet it is another reflection of the rising living standards in china. Most of these people are part of the uneducated older generation, most dont have university degrees, while some just have no education what so ever, not even high school. I do believe as the next generation becomes more dominant, that issue will be fixed. On the other hand, you do sound very biased, and since you have never been to china, you cannot really claim that you know how it is like. China has shown another model of development for developing countries, and i am sure from the western point of view (despite me spending most of my life there, i chose not to get a greek citizenship) it does seem threatening, but eventually, even china will produce Washington Nationals Baseball Fan Tumbler, maybe not the western kind, but it is inevitable with the rise of the middle class.
Totally agree. I think this would require a shift in how the government is run. That’s partly why they’re ahead; they can act quickly and effectively. I don’t agree with every action they make, but at least China has an identity for forward thinking and advancement. I’m sure China’s quality of life will vastly improve in the coming years while we’ll still be arguing over who gets to wear Washington Nationals Baseball Fan Tumbler, burning coal, and focusing our energy on irrelevant topics. The environment is now. AI, automation, basic income—this is coming in my lifetime.
