Let’s hope that the backwardness of US policies, both domestic and foreign, will face some credible opposition from more progressive countries. Trump’s saving grace is the fact that he is embarking on a course of action which will leave the US much poorer and less powerful than it is now—so it will be able to do less damage in the long term. The worry is that, like any wounded animal it will lash out dangerously in the short term.
