I had a phase in my life when I couldn’t get enough of volleyball and everything around it: meeting the team mates in the locker room, the mere smell of a volleyball, what the ball felt like in my palms and fingertips. The rush of adrenaline when you step onto the court is unlike anything else. I played competitive volleyball from age 16 to 54 when I blew out my knee. It was a huge part of my identity and provided a sense of community that is hard to replicate. Even now, thinking about a perfectly timed spike or a diving save brings back that same excitement.
